Was reading these articles in the papers about those traffic wardens who catch people driving into bus lanes. Then started to get me thinking, does these bus operators pay a higher road tax to 'book' these lanes for themselves during peak hours, or even the entire day as in Orchard? No doubt most of the bus services carry more people than cars, but does it justify for a government body to set rules in such a way that the who gains the most is the bus operators? Everyone is rushing to work in the morning, yet they have to close 1 out of 3 lanes for the buses, causing long jams on the other 2 lanes, which results in people going into the bus lanes and risk getting a $130 fine. I would agree to bus lanes if it is for a public, not-for-profit organisation, but having rules like these benefits the bus operators whose profits are already in hundreds of millions annually.
".....Regardless of race, language or religion, to build a democratic society, based on Justice and Equality......"
Equality? Seems like things are tilted to the big companies who are rich. Even small companies like where I'm working are being 'suppressed' by the biggest groceries retailer when we want to increase our price, which had stayed at this level since the 80's.
More and more grocery shops owned by locals are closing down, yet more and more supermarkets
owned by foreigners are opening up. And with more outlets, their bargaining power increase and prices are pushed down, which forced the small local grocery stores to close down. And where does all the profit goes? Back to their home country I presume. What a vicious cycle...
Fares hikes were approved recently for the train and bus operators, even when they are earning money that few human can earn or even dream of in a lifetime.
So where's the equality?
